Are you constipated or want to be more regular?

March 8, 2017No CommentsKatie Evans

It’s not the most glamorous topic but there are some many people that suffer from constipation on a daily basis!  This is no way to live, it’s super unconformable and having a healthy gut is so important for your immune health.  Constipation can usually be cured by changing up your diet along with some gentle helpers so you can enjoy a life without laxatives and have true relief.

Here are some tips to get things moving!

Fibre, fibre, fibre – Fibre improves mobility of the bowel and traps toxins.  It also feeds your intestinal bacteria and lowers blood sugars and cravings.  A diet rich in fruits and veggies, whole grains, beans, legumes, nuts, seeds and fibre supplements will help provided relief.  Fibregy is a great fibre supplement.  I use it every morning.

Water! – Are you drinking enough water?  Fluids help to keep your bowel hydrated and moving along.  Drink at least 8 large glasses throughout the day.

Focus on your Digestion – Proper digestion is crucial to the elimination and certain food may cause you difficulty.  Processed foods, junk food, and sweets are usually the culprits.  However, in some cases wheat and dairy can contribute to constipation in some people.  Tips: chew your food well.  Promote healthy gut bacteria from fermented foods, herbs or supplements that support the liver, and digestive system.  Here are some of my favourites!

Probiotics

Digestive Enzymes

Liver Support

Get MOVING – Don’t forget the importance of exercise! It gets your blood flowing and your bowel moving.  Also, deep abdominal breathing stimulates the internal organs, improving elimination.

Don’t Stress – If you are stressed your digestion will shut down.  Stress reduction techniques are important to relax the muscles and allow the digestive system to operate.  Deep breathing, yoga, exercise, even amino acids and melatonin can aid in digestion by calming your busy mind.
