If we&#8217;re not motivated, we&#8217;re more likely to squander our time and neglect our personal and professional goals. Even the most determined people can lose steam sometimes. Keep reading for some sure-fire tips for getting back on track.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"88jkk\" data-offset-key=\"98el3-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"98el3-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"98el3-0-0\">\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2761 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.totalshift.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Motivation.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.totalshift.ca\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Motivation.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.totalshift.ca\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Motivation-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.totalshift.ca\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Motivation-768x432.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.totalshift.ca\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Motivation-600x338.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"88jkk\" data-offset-key=\"ablub-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"ablub-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"ablub-0-0\">1. <strong><span style=\"color: #cc99ff;\">Remind yourself of your goals<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"ablub-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"ablub-0-0\">Usually, before I dive into any specific endeavor, I tend to make short- and long-term goals. <\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"ablub-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"ablub-0-0\">Remember however to keep your goals realistic, that way you won&#8217;t let yourself down if you don&#8217;t reach them.\u00a0 However, that doesn&#8217;t mean you can&#8217;t push and challenge yourself, if you don&#8217;t challenge yourself, then it&#8217;s not really a goal. If you start to lose sight of your goals, then you may be less motivated than if you were always checking to see how much closer you are getting throughout the whole process. Keeping track of your goals and checking your progress can help keep you motivated along the way.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"88jkk\" data-offset-key=\"664r8-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"664r8-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"664r8-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"88jkk\" data-offset-key=\"1qgsu-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"1qgsu-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"1qgsu-0-0\">2. <strong><span style=\"color: #cc99ff;\">Make weekly checkpoints to track your progress<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"1qgsu-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"1qgsu-0-0\">Everyone needs to see how they are keeping up with their goals if they want to stay motivated. If you see that you are on track or even excelling every time you check your progress, you will be motivated and happy that you are getting there. If you see that you are lagging on your goals, it may be the kick start you need to help get you back on track.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"88jkk\" data-offset-key=\"4vdim-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"4vdim-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"4vdim-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"88jkk\" data-offset-key=\"c5jkv-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"c5jkv-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"c5jkv-0-0\">3. <strong><span style=\"color: #cc99ff;\">Make sure to reward yourself every time you achieve your weekly goals<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"c5jkv-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"c5jkv-0-0\">This could be as simple as a visit to your favourite restaurant after a long, hard week or a trip to the spa for all your hard work. Whatever rewards that will keep you going are the ones you should be giving yourself.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"88jkk\" data-offset-key=\"9tprr-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"9tprr-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"9tprr-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"88jkk\" data-offset-key=\"e47n2-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"e47n2-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"e47n2-0-0\">4. <strong><span style=\"color: #cc99ff;\">Give yourself breaks<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"e47n2-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"e47n2-0-0\">Sometimes even the most determined people get overwhelmed. You may be burning yourself out, and a much-needed break might be just what your mind and body needs. If it is a fitness goal, maybe take a three or four-day rest instead of your normal one or two-day rest. If you&#8217;re in school, don&#8217;t try to do all your work in one sitting, stretch it out over the course of the day or week, if possible.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"88jkk\" data-offset-key=\"3c3jv-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"3c3jv-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"3c3jv-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"88jkk\" data-offset-key=\"bmpvt-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"bmpvt-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"bmpvt-0-0\">5. <strong><span style=\"color: #cc99ff;\">Don&#8217;t be too hard on yourself<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"bmpvt-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"bmpvt-0-0\">Everyone falls short sometimes. If you fail to meet your goals for the week, take it as a lesson. Try to complete your next target\u00a0ahead of time, so that you can use the saved time to complete the pending work. This way you stay on schedule even if you have taken a bit of a hit. It&#8217;s not always about staying on track sometimes we need to make adjustments to our goals.\u00a0 Never dwell on it; just accept it as a human occurrence, and continue working towards your goals.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"88jkk\" data-offset-key=\"e5pfo-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"e5pfo-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"e5pfo-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"88jkk\" data-offset-key=\"54mbq-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"54mbq-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"54mbq-0-0\">6. <strong><span style=\"color: #cc99ff;\">Practice personal development\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"54mbq-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"54mbq-0-0\">Everyone deserves a great pep talk every once in a while. Stay elevated by watching motivational videos or speeches online.\u00a0 Meditate daily, get in the habit using a gratitude journal every morning and\/or night.\u00a0 Surround yourself with positive people who inspire you to do better.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"88jkk\" data-offset-key=\"7ef3d-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"7ef3d-0-0\">Read books that build you up and motivate you.\u00a0 Below are a few that I have read in the past 6 months.<\/div>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"7ef3d-0-0\">&#8211; Mindset &#8211; Carol S.
